How to raise a child when you don't know how to be
Oil on canvas board
10" x 14"
I was thinking about the absence of tribal/communal practices that inform child rearing. In 2018 in America raising a child is sort of a lonely feat, the world is privatized & paranoid. Old conventions sit like shells, unusable, with no new traditions rising up to fill the gulfs. New technologies hover over and in everything. It is now an acceptable thought to wondrr if the world your children will inherit will at all resemble the one you have known.
